Billboard Ranking the Top 50 Rappers of All Time
Updated List Honors Hip-Hop's Golden Anniversary
In celebration of hip-hop's 50th anniversary, Billboard and Vibe are unveiling their highly anticipated list of the Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time.
The rankings are based on artists' chart performance on the Hot Rap Songs Top Rap Albums and Boxscore touring. Billboard initially created a list of the 10 greatest rappers of all time in November 2015 with the top position held by The Notorious B.I.G.
The publication revised their rankings in 2023 via a panel of experts. The new list features a diverse array of artists representing the entire history of hip-hop, from pioneers like Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five to contemporary superstars like Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
Billboard and Vibe will be releasing the list in installments, with the first batch of artists (numbers 50-41) already revealed.
The anticipation for the full list is palpable, as hip-hop fans eagerly await to see who will be crowned the greatest rapper of all time. With so much talent and iconic artists to choose from, the competition is fierce and the results are sure to spark debate and discussion.
